West Village Duplex Painter

West Village Interior Painting

There’s an often quoted line first attributed to the Greek poet Menander [circa 300 B.C.] that “time is the healer of all necessary evils” or “time heals all wounds.” Well, the passage of time can offer emotional relief, but in reality, time creates all kinds of wounds in a building. From dingy walls and wear and tear on every surface to cracks and gaps in walls, between trim and walls and anywhere the passage of time and gravitational forces are present, which is everywhere.

In this charming historical West Village neighborhood, a homeowner began preparing a  duplex home for sale and called us in for painting and repairing gaps which had appeared between crown molding, ceiling, walls and baseboards. Any separation gaps like the one in the photo below will turn off even the most interested buyer. The fix requires elastometric caulking or sealant, a novel product which not only fills gaps but has a pliability which moves with the building and molding across time. Despite its flexibility, referred to as dynamic joint movement, elastometric products are durable and strong.

Elastometric sealants come in polymer and acrylic-based versions, and we are knowledgeable and experienced in what types are best for which applications. Here we sealed up everything neatly, then painted the entire place. Voila! Ready for listing, ready for new residents. This home may sell fast, so the new owners can revel in West Village life. The Whitney Museum of American Art, Jefferson Market Library and Cherry Lane Theatre beckon frequent visits. Residents and visitors alike flock to enjoy historical vibes at One If By Land Two If By Sea, the contemporary euro ambiance at Amelie Wine Bar & Bistro and cafes along Bleecker Street, parks and tranquil Hudson River views.

Williamsburg Brooklyn Cabinet Painting

Cabinets under the island repaired and resurfaced, walls and ceiling freshly painted too.

Cabinet Painters in Williamsburg

While Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia presents the largest living history museum portraying 18th century American life, the Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn embraces everything of 21st century life for shopping, entertainment, dining and living in the Big Apple. Like its Virginia counterpart, several buildings are vintage, but the NYC version radiates creative vitality and contemporary vibes.

It is in this energetic environment that we were called to fix up some dented cabinets and apply a new surface, plus paint the kitchen walls and ceiling. The client had contracted for handsome new flooring, and the old cabinets were a dismal, dull, dated, uneven wood tone. We patched and smoothed out the surfaces before painting two tones of refined gray that transforms this kitchen to a stylish heart of the home.

When you’re hungry, you get something to eat. If you acquire a bunny, you buy a rabbit hutch. And once you have lived in a place for a whole year and discover how much wear and tear the entry gets, plus how boring it really is, well, you call us at Paintworks. From there, you choose new colors, and we make the entry - or exit - depending which way you are going - a more pleasant place to drop off or pick up your shoes, keys, jacket, umbrella, day pack and such.

For this family in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, we custom cut and installed classy new wall paneling on one side. That was painted with Benjamin Moore’s Silent Night, a medium gray with a touch of dignity. The doors, frames and walls were then covered with Benjamin Moore’s Pelican Gray, the next shade lighter. We used eggshell and satin finish paints for easy cleaning, and the whole family finds going out and coming home much more attractive and enjoyable.

Upper West Side NYC Painting Contractor

The background color blue on the New York flag was adopted in 1901. The New York Knicks’ primary color is blue with contrasting orange, silver and white. It’s speculated that the Mets took blue and orange from the Dodgers and Giants, respectively, after those teams departed for California. There’s comfort in color, and we painted this lad’s bedroom a couple years ago to reflect his loyalty to the Knicks and the Mets. Then, like getting a song stuck in your head, for days, the family got a place stuck in their heads, for months – Westchester County was calling.

To prepare their Upper West Side Manhattan apartment for sale, we needed to patch and paint the bathroom because of a leak in the unit above. Our team scraped some flaking plaster and repainted the living spaces for a fresh, bright appearance to prospective buyers. The blue bedroom still looks great, a happy space for one sports fan, yet easily painted should the new owners not revel in the bright blue or, heaven forbid, bring in loyalties to other sports teams. Crown molding, panel millwork, white shutters, wood trim, fresh paint, stunning wood floors – we loved our project here for being in such grand quarters.

The whole fresh start concept covers a lot of ground, and a bright, newly-painted interior can be a great launching pad into a new home in a new place. A couple with their beloved cat were about to make the leap into this Long Island City loft, but first the old dingy appearance had to be updated.

With lots of windows and natural daylight, selecting Benjamin Moore’s Simply White made the most sense for maximum reflection. White also sets the perfect background for bringing in art, fabric and colors that take center stage visually. Long Island City itself presents an energetic stage where trendy eateries and modern arts commingle comfortably with historic industrial vibes, corner parks, waterfront city views, outdoor concerts and intriguing shops.
