Tudor City Plastering and Painting

Ceiling space is the largest expanse in any room. It may be equal to the floor in square feet, but it is not interrupted with furniture and rugs. And while you may not gaze at the ceiling, peripheral vision takes it all in – the big space with possibly one central chandelier or fan or recessing lighting. When your ceiling is in disrepair, then the entire room takes on a dull, crummy appearance. This Tudor City apartment’s ceiling had been peeling for a couple years, and it was time to fix it.

Our team rolled in with copious plastic sheets to protect furnishings, floor coverings and electronics from debris that was sure to come down in pieces, flakes and dust. Once scraped, we applied a bonding primer to attach firmly to the subsequent coats of plaster. After sanding it flat and smooth, up went a high quality primer ahead of the finish coats. Ceiling work is challenging for the overhead position and working with arms raised on ladders and scaffolding that we haul along with all the tools and supplies. This entire room can now be seen, peripheral vision included, as a warm, inviting, home space.

2-Tone Cabinet Painting in Manhattan

The kitchen, that proverbial heart of the home, has evolved in recent months in many a home to the proverbial heart of work space. Manhattan residences are not synonymous with McMansions or sprawling spaces where a home office can be quickly carved in an under-utilized room. Here, things are organized for maximum efficiency in every square foot; there simply are no under-utilized rooms. So, the new work-at-home model – whether temporary or permanent - must be adapted to what’s available. Here it was one outdated kitchen.

The client wanted to refresh her kitchen/home office combo, so after beautiful new counters and a modern horizontal-pattern backsplash were installed, we breezed in to paint the cabinets and install new hardware. The upper cupboards have been smoothly coated with the Sherwin-Williams satin paint named Pure White. The lower ones are Tricorn Black, also in satin, also a Sherwin-Williams product. The hardware is an understated elegant brushed nickel in simple square knobs and horizontal draw pulls. We suspect this lady can work better, smarter and more efficiently for having this stylish, sleek, new update at the end of her 14-foot [give or take] commute to work.

Yoko Ono, wife of the late Beatle John Lennon, has stated: “Smile in the mirror. Do that every morning and you'll start to see a big difference in your life.” It may not be clear what kind of changes one might experience, but starting each day with a big smile at oneself could be a good exercise. There are copious studies on our reflections and how we view ourselves on and below the surface. Perhaps these residents started smiling every morning after we painted the frames of these tall mirrors for their home.

 Wall Mirrors Reflect Light

Decorator’s White is one of Benjamin Moore’s most popular paints for its uncomplicated, sleek finish. Walls of mirrors are often installed in small condos to enlarge spaces, and here the framed vertical mirrors offer a unique sense of style and spaciousness. There is also a theory that mirrors can reduce energy costs for reflecting light during the day, thereby using less electric lights. These mirrors just might ensure the residents never leave with mismatched socks, a crooked skirt hem or a sport coat or necktie askew. The room is quite fashionable, and chances are high that they are, too, stepping out into FiDi – Financial District of Lower Manhattan.

NYC High Gloss Trim Painting

You can add bling to any outfit or any room. One involves sparkles and gem stones, and the other often utilizes high gloss paint. Surfaces with high gloss paint are super smooth and known for being shiny and bright. They attract attention for their high gloss, which reflects light at 70% or more, compared with flat paint with absorbs light and has a single digit gloss rating.

Accent Ceiling Trim Painting

High gloss paint is often found in high traffic areas like kitchens and bathrooms for its durability. It is easy to clean as well. It also makes a dramatic accent tool, and in this Big Apple residence, the wood ceiling beams and trim were painted in a lustrous dark color. The light plays whimsically off the gloss, and the entire space exudes a glamourous look with a touch of playfulness.

Midtown High-End Painting

The Paintworks employees are well-trained and experienced in applying high gloss paint, which can be the most tricky of paints to work with. From the proper surface preparation to the suitable brushes or rollers to use with high gloss paint, these projects can be especially intensive. Thin coats are often the smartest approach to spreading paint smoothly, first time and each consecutive application. These homeowners had a keen design vision to bring high gloss flamboyance to the beautiful architectural trim in their home, and we enjoyed adding a captivating high gloss component to this room.

Lintel Painting and Restoration NYC

Lintel Painting Contractor

Windows are built from a variety of materials like different types of woods, high grade plastics, and weather-resistant metals. Weather conditions must be considered when it comes to window installation and maintenance. This, along with choosing the right products to use, can cause a world of confusion where people often miss a crucial element in their facade design plan - the lintel.

What is a lintel and why paint it?

Lintels provide a visible means of support in the structural integrity of windows. They are typically made of angular steel, stone or cast concrete and found on the top of all doors and windows in a typical structure. Despite its diminutive nature, this piece of metal is crucial to a façade’s integrity. They carry heavy weight and require inspection to be approved.

Since they are located on your building’s exterior, they are susceptible to rust. A severely rusted lintel will begin to expand because of moisture and water damage. The expansion can result in cracks in your façade which can lead to a costly repair bill.

For this reason, they need maintenance and upkeep to protect your home or business building exterior. Experts recommend having your lintels checked annually, and this is where Paintworks & Decorating can step in.

Our Process

Our expert team is able to restore lintels by scraping away rust and dirt and sanding the surface to smooth. Professionally-trained employees only use the best products for rust removal - products which will protect your lintel metal from acquiring more rust.

We apply a primer base first so the rust prevention paint over that adheres well to a metal surface. High quality rust preventive exterior paints (such as Rust-Oleum) increase the longevity and integrity of your lintels.

Our experienced specialists have worked on hundreds of homes and businesses, and we are well-positioned to service your lintel service needs.
