Manhattan Crown Molding and Box Molding Installation

New York City has a long, rich history of development since an early settlement around 1524. Historic structures, bridges and landmarks grace the city, and one couple and their sweet, fluffy, caramel chocolate color pup wanted to infuse some historical flair in their new home in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. Crown molding and decorative panel wall trim can be found in historically-significant buildings throughout the Big Apple.

Our client selected crown molding for an elegant look around the ceiling edges and box molding to add some class to a plain wall. We custom cut and installed all the molding before painting everything. We even hung the graceful, new chandelier to the designated length. Combined with old brick painted white and the attractive ceiling medallion, the home evokes a perfect blend of modern style and historical design elements.

Manhattan Crown Molding Carpentry

Crown molding comes out of ancient civilization architecture, hides the seam where ceiling meets wall and adds a stunning touch of elegance to any room. It’s a precision kind of job, as each piece needs to be selected for straightness, measured twice and custom cut once. Accuracy is imperative for placement at the perpendicular seam and along the length necessary. Our carpentry skills are as sharp as our painting expertise.

The Paintworks team takes great care in protecting furnishings, floors and fixtures while working, and here we had to use a special blocking technique to prep the surface due to the concrete ceiling. When everything was skillfully added and all freshly painted, we were seriously impressed with how the new crown molding so perfectly complements the lovely antique furnishings in this Manhattan home.

Custom Crown Molding Install in Bedstuy

Almost anything with “crown” in its name connotes sophistication, refinement, even royalty. And crown molding is no exception. When you want to dress up a room on a budget, crown molding is one fine way to accomplish it. The ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans all embraced crown molding in architecture, and it was a symbol of wealth and status. Interior crown molding, whether plain or elaborate, hides the seam between ceiling and wall while adding an elegant component to the overall décor.

We were excited to add character to this Bedstuy brownstone with both crown molding and window trim molding. Prep is always our first order of business, covering floors and furnishings as necessary. Once measured, well, twice measured, we cut and install, then fill all nail holes and caulk any gaps. Here we painted the walls in Wickham white while the trim got a semi-gloss coat for a light sheen. The room is still the same dimensions, and the interior style has been subtly enhanced with the vintage chic touch of crown molding and window trim.

Yorkville Manhattan Skim Coating, Carpentry, and Painting

When this client contacted us they just purchased beautiful apartment in the Upper East Side. They were moving back into Manhattan after spending a few years in Nassau County. They were excited to be back in the Big City and looking to create an apartment that matched this excitement. The apartment needed a lot of work. Luckily the owners has an amazing eye for detail and design and was not afraid to go bold. The crowning touch was his choice of black for new crown molding and the ceiling. Talk about interior elegance! Black has always been associated with strength and power with splashes of mystique and rebellion.

The vacant rectangular room had an awesome rustic clay brick floor-to-ceiling wall and fireplace, dull floors, 2 vertical windows and common white walls in need of a good paint job. The ceiling met the wall in undecorated 90-degree angles. Embedding crown molding into this unadorned space instantly enhanced the room. Sanding and refinishing the floors brought luster and sheen back to them. We then skim coated the walls for an even texture and to make it possible to install crown molding. Once the crown molding was installed we moved to painting. We expertly painted both the ceiling and the new crown molding in jet black. Adding gold drapes and a charcoal gray sofa created a uniquely gracious space which evokes a cozy tranquility amidst the dazzling excitement of city life. We were thrilled to participate in this transformation that embraces the natural world in wood and brick and refined lifestyle statement of exquisite black, pristine white and regal gold
