Long Island City Interior Painting

Life in Long Island City along the East River in Queens blends history with hip and river views with robust vibes.  Urban chic condos and apartments boast industrial accents, contemporary style, clean lines and copious windows. This home personifies some of the best in city living, and this room was more than ready for a fresh coat of paint.

The neutral creamy paint here stands quietly on the walls, trim and column, letting all who enter be drawn to the expansive views and rooftop accommodations. It projects an understated elegance to which pops of print or art color are welcome, along with bold, soft or medium fabrics, rugs and furnishings. It’s an anything goes space. The mission of neutrals is not to take center stage, but to create an atmosphere where cool, calm and congenial emotions are present. We certainly felt it as the job came to a close and are confident the residents do as well.

Sometimes a room needs a refresher, even an alluring one with a bay window and corner cabinet. This space had trim on the wall about a foot below the ceiling with wallpaper from the floor to that point more than half a century old. This was an exceptionally dated space loaded with charm and potential. Stripping wallpaper is much more complicated than it looks, especially older products which have become brittle and have decades-old glue underneath.

Skim Coating After Wallpaper Removal

Even when the wallpaper was all removed, we were facing uneven, damaged drywall. A great option is to skim coat the walls to give them an evenly smooth texture, and that’s exactly what we did. The room’s character and charm were restored and the walls totally smoothed and freshened. Time for tea anyone?

Stairwell Painter Westchester

Painting natural wood stairs is a transformative process. Our client was looking to brighten up the trim in this White Plains home, and we were happy to be chosen for the project.

Before painting the stair risers, we covered and protected every natural wood step. We cleaned, sanded, primed, sanded and primed again before applying 2 finish coats of Benjamin Moore’s Aura interior paint on the stair risers. The new white paint creates a stunning contrast.

Painting over woodwork

While the coats of primer were drying on the stair risers, we turned our attention to the stair trim - priming and sanding the stair spindles and the stringers (the baseboard looking piece running alongside the stairs). After two coats of primer, another two coats of Benjamin Moore Aura interior paint were added.

Why two coats of primer?

We like to use two coats of primer on natural wood to help cover the wood grain. Multiple primer coats enhance the finish paint bond so it properly adheres to a surface that was previously unpainted.

After painting the kitchen cabinets for one of our clients in Manhasset, they asked us to paint the natural wood bar-height chairs to match. It began with cleaning the chairs, sanding them with fine sandpaper, cleaning again, then spraying with two coats of primer.

Manhasset Chair Painting

Our experienced painters sprayed each bar-height chair with paint that has a hard durable enamel finish in Benjamin Moore’s White Dove satin. The chairs match the kitchen perfectly and are easy to wipe clean. The Paintworks crew is expert in painting kitchens, walls, trim and ceilings as well as giving new life and style to wood dressers, tables, stools, chairs and more.

Westchester Interior Painting

After years of family gatherings, pets and children running around and up and down stairs, and moving furniture in and out, a home’s walls can take a beating. Slowly over time, the walls collect dirt and dust and eventually look dingy. This family had not painted their home’s interior for more than 15 years, and it was starting to show. In addition to the dinginess, they wanted a color change, something different.

The well-maintained home was already beautiful with detailed trim woodwork and dark floors. Our job was to refresh the walls and the trim to give the spaces and the inhabitants a new zest for home life. The freshly painted living room (pictured above) presents a comfortable contrast between white trim, neutral wall color, and dark floors and furnishings. It is a relaxing, cheerful space where we could happily relax, read on the couch and enjoy the fireplace any day!

We painted this entire large Hastings-on-Hudson home in a few days. Working with a crew of 4 to 5 painters each day, we systematically prep, paint and clean up to deliver an updated, revitalized interior. Our goals always include client satisfaction and the best communication in the industry from estimate to proposal to painting to the final walk-through.
