After years of family gatherings, pets and children running around and up and down stairs, and moving furniture in and out, a home’s walls can take a beating. Slowly over time, the walls collect dirt and dust and eventually look dingy. This family had not painted their home’s interior for more than 15 years, and it was starting to show. In addition to the dinginess, they wanted a color change, something different.

The well-maintained home was already beautiful with detailed trim woodwork and dark floors. Our job was to refresh the walls and the trim to give the spaces and the inhabitants a new zest for home life. The freshly painted living room (pictured above) presents a comfortable contrast between white trim, neutral wall color, and dark floors and furnishings. It is a relaxing, cheerful space where we could happily relax, read on the couch and enjoy the fireplace any day!

We painted this entire large Hastings-on-Hudson home in a few days. Working with a crew of 4 to 5 painters each day, we systematically prep, paint and clean up to deliver an updated, revitalized interior. Cliffside Park, N.J., a borough within Bergen County, exudes an urban atmosphere more closely aligned with Brooklyn or Queens than the Garden State. It was in this appealing environment that enthusiastic homeowners called in Paintworks to refine their new home. They chose to paint the living room all white for its universal neutrality to showcase art, fabric and furnishings. The foyer sports a new coat of medium pewter gray with fresh coats of white paint on the trim to accentuate a new entry warmth. We very carefully painted every riser up the staircase to create an elegant white contrast with the black steps, spindles and railing.

We recently painted the stairwell and hallways of a 3-story Brooklyn apartment building, which is sure to keep residents and tenants happy for having clean spaces to walk in on the way to their front doors. For this job, a semi-gloss paint was selected for being easy to wash, yet not have the glare of a full gloss paint. The semi-gloss will still reflect light, making the corridors and stairwell seem brighter and more pleasant. Semi-gloss paint also resists fading and humidity a little bit better than other choices. Addressing routine maintenance issues in a timely fashion makes good business sense, and keeping interior common walls fresh and clean contributes positively to low vacancy rates, good-natured residents and a favorable reputation for the building.

In effort to sell this property in a timely fashion Halstead Realty and the owners decided to freshen up the place with a paint job so the property would show better. The NYC apartment hadn’t been painted in over 20 years and it showed. One day of intense plastering and painting got the condo back to near mint condition. The client chose Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White which works perfectly with the condo’s large living room windows. We always use Benjamin Moore Aura Bath and Spa in the bathroom to help protect the walls and ceiling from heat and humidity.
