Our first order of business was to address the failing plaster. We began by scrupulously scraping away the loose, flaking paint—a meticulous process. Next, we applied a bonding primer, an essential step that acts as the foundation for what's to come, promising adhesion and durability for the new paint. After the bonding primer set the stage, we turned our attention to the plaster itself. Plastering is an art as much as it is a skill—smoothing over the past, filling in the gaps of time, and restoring the smooth canvas that is a ceiling in a brownstone such as this. Layer by layer, we built up the surface, each stroke erasing years of wear and bringing us closer to a restoration deserving of this home's heritage.

Finally, it was time to reintroduce paint to the ceilings.

When this property management company called us they were looking to rent out the new commercial space they just built in Williamsburg. They wanted to show Adidas they would be right at home in this Flagship location. We were there the next day to paint the classic Adidas logo on the wall in one day. Impressing both the management and Adidas as they ended up renting the space! Very fun and cool project! Very grateful we had this opportunity.

With all this going for it, it's no surprise to us at Paintworks that savvy property owners and management agents take seriously the paint-related maintenance of apartment buildings.

We recently painted the stairwell and hallways of a 3-story Brooklyn apartment building, which is sure to keep residents and tenants happy for having clean spaces to walk in on the way to their front doors. For this job, a semi-gloss paint was selected for being easy to wash, yet not have the glare of a full gloss paint. The semi-gloss will still reflect light, making the corridors and stairwell seem brighter and more pleasant. Semi-gloss paint also resists fading and humidity a little bit better than other choices. Addressing routine maintenance issues in a timely fashion makes good business sense, and keeping interior common walls fresh and clean contributes positively to low vacancy rates, good-natured residents and a favorable reputation for the building.

Staining Wooden stairs and handrails in Howard Beach

Staircases can be the focal point of any foyer. Many people have used them to create a dramatic entrance into a party. Whether you want to create a splash entrance or just want your wooden staircase to look good, staining and protecting it properly is crucial. This client wanted the wooden spindles, banister, and handrails to look prominent while also being protected for the long term. After some intense sanding we applied 2 coat of stain. Sanding and removing dust in between each coat allowed the wood to become smooth and sleek. Once the second coat had dried we applied a clear protective coat to ensure the handrail could handle intense traffic through the years. We love staining wooden handrails, banisters, spindles, and kick plates all over Brooklyn and NYC.

Flatbush-Ditmas Park Condo Painter

Painting this unique 2 level townhouse in Ditmas Park was a fun weekend challenge. The client had just bought this home and was looking to paint the entire place before moving in. As experienced townhouse painters in Brooklyn we were able to paint the entire place in 2 days. There’s a huge built in bookshelf in the living room that the new owner was considering getting rid of because of it looked dingy, dirty, and old. We convinced her to let us paint it first to see if it would bring it back to life and sure enough she loved the new look of the shelf. This client has bold taste as clearly seen by the powerful accent wall in the bedroom. We love painting in the Prospect Park area because the neighborhoods are beautiful and diverse.  Always grateful to do move-in painting. Love making a new homeowner love their new home even more.
