The power of a first impression can make or break a property sale on first look. With home buyers shopping online initially these days, home sellers are wise to set the stage for a wow factor from that proverbial first impression. And this almost always involves paint. Fresh coats of paint are simply the least expensive bang for your buck in presenting a lovely interior, and here in Chelsea, a stunning kitchen as well. The Chelsea section of Manhattan hugs the Hudson River and offers trendy night spots, chic shops and abundant art galleries.

Dark wood cabinets plunged this kitchen into a dull and dingy space which didn’t seem to fit into the neighborhood or the home. Our Paintworks team rolled in not only to paint the entire apartment, but also to resurface these cabinets for a smooth, sophisticated rendition of one very cool, contemporary kitchen. We moved cabinet doors to our uniquely-designed paint studio, controlled for temperature and dust and outfitted with brilliant lighting. Once completely smooth and dry, we carefully returned and installed them. The owner putting this up for sale understands that fresh paint can close a sale, often at asking price or perhaps higher. New owners are sure to enjoy the timeless white kitchen for decades, as white continues to top the annual kitchen color popularity survey by the National Kitchen & Bath Association (nkba.org).

Manhattan Decorative Painter

We were contacted by an innovative homeowner who wanted to make his newly purchased apartment uniquely his own before moving in. His vision included the warm look of multi-grain wood and walls with a French Wash. Our Paintworks team installed the new floor and added a modern, flat profile baseboard finished with quarter-round shoe molding.

Walls are the largest expanse in any room, and here we used Benjamin Moore’s Nickel as the base coat and the company’s Smoke Gray for the top coat. The French Wash effect adds texture and depth with a soft marbleized appearance. To achieve this novel result, we used a large swath of muslin cloth working non-stop as the Smoke Gray paint was applied in random brush strokes followed by patting the wall quickly and expertly with the fabric. The outcome is a stunning, deep pewter, contemporary interior with an industrial flair where the homeowner can proudly host friends and relax himself.

This Manhattan client was looking to refresh their living space going into the Spring and we were happy they called us. We love painting in historic buildings and this building was no exception. Complete with a hand operated elevator this 100+ year old apartment took extra time and attention painting around the original marble fireplace. The room has many large windows and the White Dove color chosen was a perfect fit with the walls and moldings. Being a painting contractor in the Gramercy Park neighborhood we greatly enjoy painting on Lexington Avenue, Park Avenue, and surrounding streets.
