Manhattan Wall Patching and Drywall Repair 

In 1909, an inventive guy named Isaac Shero patented a hair straightener composed of two flat irons heated and pressed together, likely with formerly curly hair between them. The electric flat iron was patented in 1882. Flat irons, many forged by blacksmiths, have been heated on stoves and pressed fabric and clothes smooth for centuries. The Flatiron Building, bounded by 5th Ave., Broadway and East 22nd St., has flat iron characteristics for its triangle design. It was completed in 1902, added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989.

The neighborhood anchored by this iconic structure is the Flatiron District, known for trendy everything and the original Shake Shack. Our client here wanted to add paint color before moving in, and asked us to repair a wall where a TV set had been. We cleaned and measured that space, cut drywall to fit, taped it into place and plastered and painted. This wall and all the walls we painted look nice and new for a wonderful welcome to their new nest in the Flatiron District.

Manhattan Penthouse Painting Contractor

When new homeowners select Tribeca for their neighborhood and a 3-level penthouse for their home, it only stands to reason they would connect with Paintworks, perhaps the most experienced and professional painting and wallpapering team in and around the Big Apple. You might roll your eyes at such an undertaking, but we get excited. We make things happen and paint everything from water towers and steel structures to kitchens and baths, stores, home interiors and exteriors and nurseries for wee babies. We protect railings and floors and haul in ladders, scaffolding, extension handles, primer, paint, gear and the strong arms and keen eyes needed for every roll and every brush stroke along the way. This family is settling in their new home with stairway walls a blank slate for their choice of wall décor and style.

NoHo Interior Painters

Washington Square Park enjoys a dramatic, storied history across five centuries. Once residential neighborhoods were constructed on three sides of the relatively small, but highly prized, 10-acre park, people from all walks of life craved living here. Less than a decade ago, park renovation included a new playground, small dog run, chess plaza, landscaping upgrades, new benches and lighting and repaved pathways. One couple contacted us for an entire condo painting assignment before merging their lives into the space.

 The duplex interior sports a contemporary industrial feel, tempered with warm dark floors and newly painted, crisp white trim and walls. Of the updates to a living space, new paint trumps them all for the volume of surface it embraces and the mood it can project. Painting these walls came easy enough, with our constant attention to detail, but tackling the very tall stairwell was a bit more tricky. We were able to professionally finish everything, no matter the height, width or adjacent trim, windows, doors and floors. And now, there are two more satisfied Paintworks customers in the Big Apple, settling into their freshly painted abode.

Closet Remodel Brooklyn

This family called us before they moved a few blocks over into their new home in Brooklyn Heights. They wanted a more open closet concept, so we removed the old closet doors, the surround walls and shelving plus the closet hang bars. Some of that left a bit of a mess, so we carefully plastered and sanded all the holes and installed J bead edges.

After we sanded and prepped everything for painting, the carpenter installed beautiful dark baseboards to contrast with the newly-installed, honey-colored wood floors. We painted the bedroom Benjamin Moore’s Sea View, a soft coastal blue color found in its Classic Color Collection. It’s like a touch of the sea in the city.

Touching up paint is one of those ideas that looks good on paper and never looks good on the walls or ceiling. Even if you know the color, brand and kind of paint, time, sunlight, dirt and interior temperatures and air quality have an effect on the finish which makes it impossible to match. The splotchy ceiling and dull walls were an eyesore to a Midtown Manhattan couple who wanted their new condo to be fresh and clean before they moved in. One of the most popular paints on the market is Benjamin Moore’s White Dove, and here the classic, soft shade proved perfect for the trim. The walls are Pale Oak, a greige color. Greige is a fairly new word that crosses gray and beige for a warm taupe. Their choice of this neutral palette is brilliant for showcasing artwork, fabric and upholstery, bold splashes of color or subtle hints of earth tones and pastels.
