Chelsea, Manhattan Interior Painting

It was a snowy day in February when these new homeowners called us looking to paint their new place with some bold colors. They had a very tight timeframe as they had to be out of their old apartment in just 2 days. We were able to see them the same day they called us and start/finish the very next day. It was a great challenge painting their 15 foot ceilings. Their color choices were unique and colorful and matched their personalities well. It was cool to be a part of such a well designed apartment in the sleek Chelsea area.

Views of Central Park are some of the most sought after views in the city. This beautiful apartment has floor to ceiling windows facing Central Park from the north side. The views are simply stunning. Before the new homeowner moved in they wanted the apartment to feel new again. What's a great way to make an apartment feel new again? A fresh coat of paint! From top to bottom we repainted the entire apartment with Benjamin Moore Aura White. The new coat of white paint shows off how big the spaces are while taking advantage of the abundance of natural light. Clean cuts around the baseboards, columns, and chandelier were crucial. We had a great time painting this space and look forward to painting more places with spectacular views of Central Park.

Manhattan Dining Room and Hallway Painter

After a few weeks on the market this couple on the Upper East Side called us to help freshen up their home. With multiple young children running around, the walls in the hallway and dining room looked a little worn and dirty. After lightly cleaning the walls we painted the walls with Benjamin Moore Scuff X to help withstand the high traffic and constant touching. Scuff X is also very resistant to scuffs and is easy to wipe off any marks which made it the perfect product for this apartment while it is being viewed by prospective buyers. The dining room looks refreshed and clean with natural light pouring in.

Painting Exterior Cornices

The New York Times have called roof cornices 'The Crowning Glory’ of NYC architecture in the Early 20th century. Yet these historic pieces of architectural ingenuity have largely disappeared from modern building practices. Built of galvanized iron, copper and terra cotta, the cornice was the cherry on top of NYC beautiful historic buildings. The Brooks Brothers building, at Madison and 44th Street is a superb example of a refined cornice. Sadly, the anti-cornice movement goes hand in hand with the “who-cares” tide of NYC architecture. Buildings after building were made in “modern” designs, seeking to become taller and sleeker. This makes cornice placement difficult.

In today’s world the city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development has adopted a cornice restoration plan as part of its overall housing strategy in the Harlem and Hamilton Heights area. Cassandra A. Vernon, an agency spokeswoman urges developers to include cornices in their designs. She seeks to encourage people to repair and replace cornices on rehabilitated buildings.

Paintworks and Decorating is proud to be one of the few companies experienced to handle this delicate restoration. We see cornices as a major piece of NYC architectural history and wish to keep the artistic tradition alive. The very soul of New York has slowly been deteriorated by the destruction of some of our most historic constructions. With our 25 years of experience we seek to maintain NYC’s rich art and history.

With the easy renting of one scissor lift the our team can restore your historic building's details to their former glory. With a few precise coats of Benjamin Moore Aura Exterior premium paint your cornice will last for future generations to appreciate and admire.

Painting Apartments To Sell in Manhattan, NYC

When this spacious Upper East Side home was vacated by the previous tenant, the homeowner decided to sell the place instead of renting it out again. Realizing that the place hadn't been painted in over 7 years, the walls looked a little dingy and there was a few cracks in the ceilings. We easily remedied all surface issues and painted the walls with Benjamin Moore's Decorator's White which utilizes the natural light and shows how much space there really is in this apartment. We painted the ceilings with Flat White that keeps each room balanced but provides a little contrast between the walls and ceiling. This is a good example of a staged apartment painted with high vibe colors but is neutral enough to appeal to most buyers.
