The finished living room! Complete with smooth walls and new baseboards!

When this couple called us they were about to purchase their dream home and were about 2 months away from having their first baby. This residence was in dire need of some serious wall fixing from floor to ceiling. The walls were splotchy with paint and damaged wallboard, and plaster was loose, chipped and falling out at the floor. The home was showing major wear and tear and needed a seriously make over. It was the kind of mess we at Paintworks & Decorating are trained and experienced to remedy.

We started by scraping all failing paint and plaster. Then we removed the old ragged baseboards. Once everything was fully scraped we applied bonding primer and began skim coating. After 3 coats of compound plaster we carefully sanded to make sure all walls and ceilings had a smooth even texture. We installed new baseboards and then painted everything with Benjamin Moore. This Manhattan historic apartment renovation was quite the challenge but looking at the home with furniture made it all worth it. The client is happy and we are grateful they trusted us to complete this project.

After living in their condo for 2 years this client wanted to refresh the place with new colors, patched holes, to make the place feel new again.

The super of the building recently removed the non-working intercom phone leaving a gapping hole in the living room wall. We were able to completely patch and plaster the hole so you can’t even tell it was there in the first place. After caulking around the windows and plastering the other cracks the place was ready for painting. Using fresh rollers and proper technique we repainted their accent wall to show seamless color. The previous paint job showed major flashings which distracted the eye from the tv the wall was situated on. We painted the bathroom with Benjamin Moore Aura Bath & Spa to ensure longevity in the hot humid environment that is a bathroom. Always grateful to paint beautiful Upper West Side apartments.

NJ Interior Home Painting

This client was moving back to Jersey City from another state and wanted to make this space feel like theirs before moving in. They chose a bold and powerful blue accent wall, unfortunately our pictures turned out poorly. Trust us the apartment turned out great. We carefully removed 2 mirrors without breaking any glass and causing any bad luck! The rest of the apartment was painted with an interior designer favorite Benjamin Moore White matte. We noticed that the window sill in the living room was looking swollen like there is a small leak in the window frame. We immediately re-caulked around the windowsill with elastomeric caulking to prevent further damage. We’re always grateful to be a go-to apartment painter in Jersey City.

Brooklyn Interior Painting

It's hard to beat the views of the water and the Manhattan skyline from this Williamsburg apartment. The tenants had just moved out and the owner was looking for refresh the space before the new tenants moved in. It is always fun to paint apartments in Brooklyn that have this type of view. After we plastered all holes and cracks we proceeded to paint the entire apartment in Benjamin Moore White. The giant living room windows let in tons of light that make the space look large and inviting. We were able to paint the whole place in 2 days right before the new tenants moved in. The owner had a tight timeframe and we were able to complete the move in/move out home painting just in time.

Jackson Heights Skim Coating and Interior Painting

Jackson Heights is home to many historic residential buildings that are wonderfully built and preserved details. Unfortunately as time goes on and apartments constantly change hands these once fine and beautiful details become lost. Plaster starts to fail, the walls become warped and wonky. Door frames covered in 10+ coats of paint hide the once detailed frame. Good news is that all of this can be fixed. This new homeowner wanted the apartment returned to its original glory and we were happy to help. As professional plasterers and door frame strippers in Queens we immediately knew how to remedy the situation after walking the space. With our Jackson Heights skim coating team in place we began the 4 day process of giving all walls and ceilings of the apartment a Level 4 treatment. Level 4 is 3-4 layers of compound applied to the surfaces to give a smooth look and feel, replacing any current texture. The bottom picture shows a bedroom during the 2nd day of plastering. While the plaster was drying we began the process of stripping all the door frames. Removing years of paint from door frames is an intensive process that takes expertise and patience. Once the paint was removed from the door frames we re-plastered around the frames to make everything look new again. With the plaster dried we sanded all walls and ceilings with fine sandpaper to ensure proper smoothness. We then primed all surfaces to ready them for the finish coats. Using 2 coats of Benjamin Moore Aura we painted the entire apartment. We loved the accent walls and door colors the client chose. Painting the furnace cover a different color from the wall is unique and worked out well. Painting historic Queens Co-ops can be a challenge but it is always worth it. We are thankful for this very involved project and the way the finished place looks.
