Power House Condo Painter

It takes a couple super creative minds to transform a power station into fabulous condo living spaces. World-renowned architect Karl Fisher and interior designer Andres Escobar did exactly that in the Hunters Point waterfront neighborhood of Long Island City. The Pennsylvania Railroad Power Station was constructed in 1909 and closed in 1920. It opened as a residential building for luxury lifestyles in the fall of 2007.

We get excited to work inside these historical edifices, like our painting becomes part of history when we freshen the spaces. Here we prepared this lovely unit for new tenants, and we are positive they will love the wood-grain look flooring for its natural vibe, and the smooth, freshly painted walls and white trim. The bedrooms were painted with Benjamin Moore’s First Snowfall, a warm neutral with faint blue-gray undertones. Factor in a white tray ceiling and copious windows for natural daylight, and there’s a unique brand of excitement for living large in a former power station.

There are lots of things new tenants would enjoy like donuts, a vase of fresh flowers, gift card to the local deli and so on. But as professional painters, we see those consumables are here today-gone tomorrow. On the other hand, a fresh coat of interior paint lasts much longer and speaks the language of caring about renters having fresh, clean spaces in which to create their new home. Home is where the heart is, for sure, it’s a refuge from the hustle-bustle of city streets and subways.  In this charming Brooklyn duplex, we painted high and wide after some routine light plastering and sanding to smooth out a few places. Plaster and sandpaper go to every job because most of them need a spot or more of touch-up. Painting professionally with superior results requires a keen eye from many angles, good lighting and the kind of surface assessment that only comes with experience. Yorkville Painters

 The Yorkville neighborhood of Manhattan hugs the East River on the east and rests an easy couple blocks walking to Park Avenue. Gracie Mansion, the official home of the mayor, is in Yorkville, along with Carl Schurz Park and the 92nd Street Y. Papaya King, which opened in 1932, is still serving up grilled hot dogs and tropical drinks. High-rise condo buildings offer classy, contemporary cribs, and we recently painted one of these.

 A coat of paint does wonders for any interior space (or exterior), and savvy property managers and homeowners who rent out their properties know this well. Thus, we waltzed into one of these Upper East Side condos in between tenants to spruce up the walls. The paint choice was Pink Damask OC-72 from Benjamin Moore’s Off-White Color collection. These walls will wow any prospective tenant for their light, neutral, quietly sophisticated allure. It’s the perfect, serene background for any style of art, décor, fabrics and furnishings.

UES Local Painters

With a bird’s eye view out this Upper East Side apartment, the owner wanted her rental nest to look great before marketing it for new tenants. The ceiling needed some repair, and since you can’t have a tree canopy and the sky above, like the real birds do, then sprucing this up was the next best thing. Ceilings are often only in our peripheral vision, not especially noteworthy, until there’s peeling paint or a little damage or imperfections that capture our eye. Then one might wonder if the ceiling here is not important to keep clean and freshly painted, what else might not be up to snuff?

 So, the Paintworks troop moved in with plaster, paint, ladders, scaffolding, long handles for rollers and all the tools for plastering, priming and painting the tops of the rooms. Ceilings can be challenging up overhead, but we are always up for any challenge that involves, renovation, flooring and more. This lady landlord can now proudly show the space in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, known for Madison Avenue, the Museum Mile and almost everything you need for a satisfying live-work-play experience.
